Biography
Dr. Spain is an Associate Professor in the Department of Management, Marketing, and Administrative Communication, College of Business and Technology. She is a practicing attorney, licensed to practice in OH, PA, and KY. Dr. Spain worked at United States Steel Corporation in the labor relations department and represented the company by preparing and presenting over 300 grievances in binding arbitration. She was the labor law attorney for the City of Pittsburgh and, in that capacity, handled all labor related matters for the City, including administrative and public hearings before the EEOC, NLRB, Unemployment Compensation Boards, and grievance arbitration. Dr. Spain designed the City's drug/alcohol screening program and served as the City's spokesperson in binding interest arbitration with the firefighters. She has been in private practice for several years, handling a variety of civil litigation matters, primarily in the area of employment and labor law matters.
