Who should be in EKU's MBA
Program? |
EKU’s MBA Program is designed for working professionals and recent graduates of the southeastern region of Kentucky with undergraduate degrees in business or non-business (engineering, health sciences, social sciences, etc.). The majority of students in the program are already involved in their business careers and want to use the MBA as a vehicle for enhancement into upper management.

What undergraduate business background is required for admittance? |
Students can be admitted without an undergraduate business degree. However, students without business degrees must complete and obtain grades of B- or better on the following prerequisite or equivalent courses:
ACC 201 – Introduction to Financial Accounting
ACC 202 – Introduction to Managerial Accounting
CIS 300 – Management Information Systems
FIN 300 – Business Finance
MKT 300 – Principles of Marketing
MGT 300 – Principles of Management
QMB 200 – Business Statistics I
Students must also obtain grades of C- or better on the following prerequisite or equivalent courses:
ECO 230 – Principles of Economics (microeconomics)
ECO 231 – Principles of Economics (macroeconomics)
Prerequisite requirements for the above undergraduate level courses must also be met. Students with undergraduate degrees more than seven years old must have coursework further evaluated.

What courses are required to complete the MBA? |
Eight MBA level (850 level) Business Core courses that must be completed: accounting, management, marketing, managerial finance, computer information systems, business research and communications, advanced statistics, and a capstone course in business policy. All of these courses are offered at least once per academic year. In addition, approved business elective courses must be completed. Undergraduate-level prerequisite courses must be completed prior to the enrolling in MBA courses.

Are options offered with EKU’s MBA Program? |
EKU’s MBA Program offers three options.
MBA – 30 credit hours:
The EKU MBA option provides an innovative approach to preparing students for jobs that do not now exist. Through an applied integrated curriculum, students expand their knowledge of all functional areas of business.
MBA with Accounting Option – 30 credit hours:
The EKU MBA Accounting option is a unique blend of the MBA in a format designed to complement the student’s accounting background. More than a traditional MBA, this option produces executives who not only have enhanced accounting skills but also who can effectively function in the global economy with integrated managerial skills.
MBA with Integrated Communications Option – 33 credit hours:
The option offers a unique blend of public relations, marketing and corporate communication designed to enhance individual contributions to a business organization across a dynamic global marketplace. Building upon the EKU MBA curriculum, this option will deliver a set of integrated communication methodologies and experiences to address strategic communication initiatives in a corporate setting.

Are courses offered at EKU’s extended campuses? |
MBA courses are offered through ITV at our extended campus locations in Danville, Corbin, Lancaster, and Manchester.

Are courses scheduled conveniently? |
All MBA courses, including prerequisite courses are scheduled during evenings and on Saturday mornings. EKU’s MBA Program offers web-enhanced courses as well as classroom courses. In addition, courses are offered through ITV to our extended campus locations.

Can Business Core courses or electives be taken elsewhere
and transferred to EKU's Program? |
There are tight restrictions on transfer courses and prior approval by the MBA Director must be obtained.

What are the admission standards for EKU's MBA? |
A minimum undergraduate GPA of 2.5 is required. In addition, a GMAT score in excess of 410 is required. Three letters of recommendation and a current resume are also required. Meeting these minimum requirements, however, does not guarantee admission.

How long does it take to complete an MBA at
EKU? |
EKU’s MBA Program may be completed in two years by taking two courses per semester. Additional time is required if prerequisite course requirements have not been met. Courses are offered during the spring, fall, and summer semesters.

Who instructs EKU's MBA courses? |
Only full-time EKUBusiness Faculty instructs MBA courses. All MBA Faculty meet stringent research and other standards above those required for undergraduate instruction. All hold doctoral degrees in their fields of instruction.

What is the tuition for MBA courses? |
Graduate in-state tuition at EKU for the 2007 – 2008 academic year is $341 per credit hour ($1,023 per three hour course). All MBA courses are three credit hours.

What financial assistance is available to MBA students? |
Students can apply for financial assistance by completing the FAFSA form located on the Financial Aid website at www.finaid.eku.edu.
A limited number of graduate assistantship positions are awarded to full-time (nine credit hours) graduate students with outstanding academic records.
